Historic Climb on Mount Everest


Kathmandu: A remarkable achievement unfolded on Mount Everest as 274 climbers, including three from India, reached the summit from the Nepalese side, marking a new record for the most ascents in a single day.


All climbers successfully reached the peak, which stands at 8,848.86 meters, on Wednesday.


According to Rishi Ram Bhandari, the general secretary of the Expedition Operators Association in Nepal, this group included 150 sherpas from Nepal.


The Indian climbers who contributed to this historic feat are Tulasi Reddi Palpunoori, Sandeep Are, and Ajay Pal Singh Dhaliwal.


This achievement sets a new benchmark for Everest summits this spring, with 502 climbers having received permission to attempt the ascent in the spring of 2026.


Previously, in May 2019, a total of 223 climbers had reached the summit in one day from the same side.


On Thursday, Lakshmikanta Mandal from India also successfully scaled the world's tallest peak, accompanied by eight others, including six Nepalese sherpas, as reported by Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd., the expedition organizer.


Additionally, this spring saw Nepal's Kami Rita Sherpa breaking his own record by summiting Everest for the 32nd time.


Furthermore, Lhakpa Sherpa from Nepal made history as the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest 11 times this season.
