Mother Arrested for Plotting Son's Murder Over Alcohol Addiction

The concept of family embodies love, trust, and belonging. It is a sanctuary where a mother endures every hardship for her children. However, a disturbing incident in Andhra Pradesh has shattered this notion, as a mother has been accused of orchestrating her own son's murder. The motive? His struggle with alcohol addiction and escalating domestic conflicts.

Authorities have apprehended a 50-year-old woman named Shyamala for allegedly conspiring to kill her 22-year-old son, Jayaprakash Reddy. Reports indicate that she hired a contract killing gang for 600,000 rupees. Jayaprakash, an MBA student, had recently succumbed to alcoholism and frequently asked his mother for money, which led to her frustration.

A Phone Call Unravels the Truth

Police Inspector Gopal Reddy revealed that Shyamala felt overwhelmed by the situation and confided in a family acquaintance, Mahesh, a farm laborer, about her intentions to eliminate her son. She even provided him with an advance payment of 50,000 rupees. Subsequently, Jayaprakash's body was discovered on November 7, near a liquor store along the Mumbai-Chennai highway in Gullapalli.

Initially, the circumstances surrounding his death were deemed suspicious. However, the investigation gained momentum with the deployment of forensic teams and a dog squad, leading to the identification of the victim. Inspector Gopal Reddy noted that a phone call from Mahesh to Shyamala revealed the entire plot. Mahesh allegedly involved several others in executing this heinous plan. Consequently, police arrested Shyamala, Mahesh, and six accomplices.
