Monsoon Arrives Early in India: Heavy Rainfall and Alerts Issued
Current Weather Conditions Across India
IMD Weather LIVE Updates: Several states are experiencing an early onset of the monsoon, with some regions facing heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning. Kerala is expected to officially welcome the monsoon on May 27, 2025, while Maharashtra will also see an early arrival during the first week of June.
In Bengaluru, continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days has caused significant traffic issues and severe waterlogging. The city's drainage system is overwhelmed by the volume of rainwater, leading to challenging conditions in various areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert for Bengaluru and 22 other districts in Karnataka, effective until May 22.
The IMD forecasts rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-50 km/h across Northeast India over the next week. Regions such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to experience heavy rainfall today, while Kerala and Mahe, along with Karnataka, will see rain from May 20 to 25. Torrential rain is also expected in Rayalaseema on May 20-21, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana on May 20, and South Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa from May 20 to 25, with Marathawada experiencing rain on May 20-21.
Additionally, the IMD has predicted heat wave conditions in isolated areas of West Rajasthan from May 20 to 24, East Rajasthan from May 20 to 22, and Haryana on May 20-21. For ongoing weather updates, forecasts, and IMD alerts, stay tuned.
