Monsoon Activity Declines in Rajasthan, New Rainfall Expected Soon

Current Weather Conditions in Rajasthan

Jaipur: The monsoon in Rajasthan has once again slowed down, with a noticeable decrease in rainfall activities across most regions. According to the meteorological department, the monsoon is expected to remain weak for the next four to five days. However, light rain is anticipated today in certain areas of the Kota and Bharatpur divisions. Following this, a new phase of rainfall is expected to commence from September 12.

Rainfall Below Normal Levels

This monsoon season has recorded approximately 24% less rainfall than normal in Rajasthan. Between June 1 and September 6, the average rainfall in the state typically hovers around 385 mm, but this year only about 313 mm has been recorded, indicating that the rainfall figures are significantly below the average.

Limited Areas with Above-Normal Rainfall

Most districts in the state have experienced below-normal rainfall, with only Bharatpur, Dausa, Dhaulpur, and Jhunjhunu reporting above-normal precipitation. Bharatpur recorded 638.8 mm of rain compared to the normal of 481.7 mm, which is about 33% more. Similarly, Dausa, Dhaulpur, and Jhunjhunu have seen rainfall exceeding normal levels by approximately 7 to 13%.

Expected Rainfall Today

Today, light rain or drizzles are likely in parts of Bharatpur and Kota divisions. On Monday, the rainfall was quite limited, with some areas in Alwar, Kotputli, Sikar, and Rajsamand receiving precipitation. Notably, Nathdwara in Rajsamand recorded about 28 mm of rain.

Weather Changes Expected from September 12

Meteorologists indicate that the monsoon trough has shifted northward from its usual position, leading to a decline in rainfall activities in Rajasthan. A new phase of rainfall is anticipated to begin on September 12, with an increase in monsoon activities expected, particularly affecting eastern Rajasthan.

Temperature Rise Due to Reduced Rainfall

With the decrease in rainfall and increased sunshine, daytime temperatures have risen in several areas of the state. Cities such as Karauli, Kota, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Alwar, Pilani, Tonk, and Bhilwara have recorded maximum temperatures rising by about 4 degrees. On Monday, the highest temperature in the state was noted at 39 degrees Celsius in Phalodi.

Future Weather Outlook for Rajasthan

Currently, the monsoon is expected to remain weak in Rajasthan. There is a possibility of sporadic rainfall in the coming days, while many parts of western Rajasthan may experience predominantly dry weather. Following September 12, an increase in rainfall activities is anticipated, suggesting a revival of the monsoon in the state.
