Mohan Bhagwat's Insights on India's Spiritual Heritage

On Monday, Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasized that India's spiritual heritage and the teachings of its saints have historically empowered the nation to navigate global upheavals and provide guidance during challenging times. He attributed this resilience to the nation's spiritual wisdom. Bhagwat made these remarks during a seven-day ritual ceremony at the 'Shri Majjinedra Panchkalyaneshwar Pratishtha Mahotsav' held in the Tulsi Nagar area of Nagpur, Maharashtra.

While addressing the gathering, he stated that whenever the world faces crises, India emerges as a force that helps overcome those challenges. The true perspective of human existence lies within this spiritual knowledge. When storms of materialism, narrow-mindedness, and consumerism arise from the outside world, often devastating other societies, they merely pass over us; we remain steadfast and unchanged. This resilience is rooted in our spiritual wisdom, which we owe to our saints. Therefore, it is our duty to pay homage and strive to incorporate their teachings into our daily lives.

Bhagwat also pointed out that historical civilizations like Greece, Egypt, and Rome have vanished, yet India possesses a unique quality that ensures its continuous existence. He remarked that while Greece, Egypt, and Rome have disappeared from the earth, there is something special within us that guarantees our survival. He stressed that the ongoing spiritual knowledge received from saints and sages is a unique and enduring essence of India.

This enduring essence is the spiritual knowledge that we continuously receive from our saints and sages. It is a form of spirituality that remains unknown to the rest of the world and other nations, yet our ancestors discovered it. Consequently, whenever the world finds itself in turmoil, and humanity stumbles, our nation repeatedly emerges as the one that helps the world navigate through crises.

Reflecting on the role of saints in shaping society, Bhagwat noted that the gradual adaptability of Hindu society is due to the continuous influence of saints, sages, and ascetics. He mentioned that the external world is engulfed in storms of materialism, narrow-mindedness, and consumerism—forces that have led to the disintegration of other societies. However, for us, those waves merely brush past; we remain steadfast and unchanged in our true essence. This resilience is a result of spiritual knowledge; it is the grace bestowed upon us by our saints. Thus, it is our duty to express reverence and devotion to these saints.
