Importance of Family Dialogue in Preventing Love Jihad
On Wednesday, Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasized that a lack of communication within families is a primary factor contributing to what is termed as love jihad. Speaking at the Stree Shakti Samvad event in Bhopal, he urged parents to reflect on how a girl might be influenced by strangers and stressed the significance of dialogue and moral values within families.

Highlighting the role of women, Bhagwat stated that a child's moral values are primarily shaped at home during the first twelve years, with the mother's influence being crucial. He asserted that equality between men and women is essential and noted that historical restrictions on women were due to instability and past attacks, but conditions have now changed. Bhagwat further mentioned that efforts to prevent love jihad must occur at three levels to ensure social stability.

Bhagwat's remarks sparked sharp political reactions. AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi questioned his statements, asserting that adults have the legal right to make their own choices. Speaking in Amravati, Maharashtra, Owaisi demanded that if love jihad is indeed occurring, statistics should be presented in Parliament. He called on the BJP and Mohan Bhagwat to define this term and provide data from the past eleven years, while also stating that they should focus on significant issues like employment, China, and Ladakh.
