Mohammed Siraj Praises Akash Deep After Stellar Performance Against England

Siraj and Akash Deep Shine in Second Test
In the first innings of the second Test match against England, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj took six wickets, attributing part of his success to his fellow pacer Akash Deep, whom he likened to a horse. Siraj achieved impressive figures of 6 wickets for 70 runs, while Akash Deep claimed four wickets for 88 runs. Their combined efforts led to India dismissing England for 407 runs, establishing a substantial first-innings lead of 180 runs after scoring 587 runs themselves.
Speaking to BCCI TV, Siraj expressed his admiration for Akash Deep, stating, 'Akash Deep is like a horse. He was waiting for his chance, and when it came, he showed how eager he was. Honestly, I really enjoyed bowling alongside him.'
He further added, 'I feel happy when given responsibility. My only aim is to not concede runs. I tried my best to bowl effectively and keep the batsmen under pressure.'
Akash Deep, who secured a spot in the playing XI due to Jasprit Bumrah's rest, also credited Siraj for his performance, saying he enjoyed sharing the new ball with him.
He remarked, 'I took two wickets with the new ball, but Siraj played a significant role by maintaining pressure from one end.'
