Modi Criticizes Mamata Banerjee Amid Violence in West Bengal
Prime Minister Modi's Critique of West Bengal's Leadership
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed sharp criticism at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, labeling the recent violence in Murshidabad and Malda as indicative of her government's brutality and negligence. Modi employed the term 'ruthlessness' in his remarks, accusing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of failing to maintain law and order and ignoring the plight of citizens. In response to Modi's statements, Banerjee has now fired back.
Mamata Banerjee's Response to Modi's Allegations
Banerjee expressed her shock and sadness over Modi's comments, stating that it is disheartening when the opposition represents the nation. She highlighted that during Modi's presence, one of his ministers mentioned plans for 'Operation Bengal,' similar to 'Operation Sindoor.' Banerjee challenged Modi to participate in the upcoming elections, asserting that Bengal is ready to accept his challenge, but reminded him that time is a crucial factor.
Continued Political Tensions in West Bengal
The Chief Minister further noted that her representative, Abhishek Banerjee, is actively speaking out against terrorism daily. She criticized Modi for attacking the state government while he should be acting as the Prime Minister rather than as the BJP president. Banerjee accused him of attempting to politicize the situation, similar to the tactics used by BJP leaders, and condemned the spread of falsehoods. She emphasized the importance of respecting every woman, referencing the 'Operation Sindoor' comments without further elaboration.
