Prime Minister Modi's Rally in West Bengal

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his belief that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the next government in West Bengal following the assembly elections. He stated that he would return for the oath-taking ceremony after the results are announced on May 4.

Modi addressed a rally in Barrackpore, located in the North 24 Parganas district, on the final day of campaigning for the second and last phase of the assembly elections. He launched a strong critique against the ruling Trinamool Congress, accusing it of operating a 'syndicate raj', engaging in political violence, and contributing to the state's economic decline.

He remarked, 'The atmosphere I have sensed in West Bengal leads me to believe that I will need to return for the oath-taking ceremony of the BJP government after May 4.' This statement was met with enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

Highlighting Barrackpore's historical significance, Modi noted its crucial role in India's first struggle for independence in 1857 and suggested that it is now setting the stage for political change in West Bengal.

He emphasized the importance of West Bengal's progress for the overall development of India, asserting that the rise of the eastern region is vital for the country's future.

Modi's Commitment to West Bengal

Modi stated, 'Serving West Bengal, ensuring its safety, and protecting it is my destiny and duty.' He cited victories in neighboring states as evidence, claiming, 'After Odisha and Bihar, the lotus will bloom in West Bengal this time as well.'

He accused the Trinamool Congress of neglecting its foundational slogan 'Maa, Mati, Manush' and lacking a vision for the state's development. He claimed, 'The Trinamool has no vision for the development of West Bengal.'

Modi pointed out that while industries are shutting down, criminal gangs are thriving. He said, 'On one hand, factories are closing, while on the other, factories for making crude bombs are opening, employing goons, and the Trinamool's gang is expanding.'

He criticized the ruling party for resorting to insults and threats instead of governance, stating, 'The only strategy of the Trinamool seems to be to insult, threaten, and spread falsehoods. They have targeted me, constitutional institutions, and even the armed forces with their derogatory statements.'

Engagement with the Matua Community

While reaching out to the influential Matua community in several districts of South Bengal, Modi assured them that the BJP government would provide citizenship and necessary documents to all eligible individuals. He stated, 'I want to assure the Matua community that you will receive citizenship and all necessary documents.'

He took a firm stance against illegal immigration, asserting that the rights of genuine Indian citizens would be protected while action would be taken against illegal immigrants. Modi declared, 'Regardless of caste or religion, Indians should not face any issues, but intruders will not be spared.'

Referring to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Modi mentioned that the BJP has already fulfilled a significant ideological commitment by abrogating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

He added that another aspiration of Mukherjee was the prosperity of West Bengal and a permanent solution to the refugee problem. Modi stated, 'The new BJP government will work to fulfill this vision.'

Job Opportunities and Economic Revival

Promising job opportunities for the youth, Modi noted that West Bengal has suffered from migration due to a lack of employment for decades. He said, 'West Bengal has endured the pain of migration for decades because there were no jobs here. Providing employment to the youth of the state will be a priority for the BJP government.'

He referenced the image of Bengal depicted in Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's 'Vande Mataram' and stated that the BJP would work to restore the state's prosperity. He concluded, 'We will adopt 'Sujalam Suphalam' as our policy, make 'Shashya Shyamala' a source of inspiration for employment, and 'Malayaj Sheetalam' a source of happiness and prosperity.'
