High-Level Talks Between Modi and Putin

A significant meeting is taking place at Hyderabad House between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their bilateral discussions, Modi expressed optimism that both Russia and Ukraine would soon embark on a path to peace. He emphasized that India is not neutral but firmly stands for peace. This statement was made during a high-level dialogue between the two leaders amid Putin's visit to India.

Strengthening Ties Amidst Global Tensions

Welcoming Putin and the Russian delegation, Modi noted that the two nations have maintained consistent communication since the onset of the Ukraine crisis. He acknowledged that Moscow has kept India informed and has shown trust in the country, reaffirming India's commitment to peaceful dialogue and conflict resolution. Modi stated, "India believes in peace... we are not neutral; we stand for peace." In response, President Putin thanked Modi for the invitation and appreciated the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation during their visit.

Putin's Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Earlier, President Putin paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, signing the visitor's book in tribute. During his two-day state visit to India, he was honored with a guard of honor by all three branches of the armed forces at the Presidential Palace in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.
