Mizoram's Budget Presentation Highlights


Aizawl, Feb 26: On Thursday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma introduced a budget of Rs 17,469.91 crore for the fiscal year 2026-2027 during a session in the state assembly. The budget emphasizes enhancing social infrastructure, improving connectivity, and boosting the agriculture sector.


Additionally, the Chief Minister presented supplementary grant demands for the current fiscal year, totaling Rs 3,724.25 crore.


This marks Lalduhoma's third budget presentation since the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) took office in December 2023. As the finance minister, he reiterated the government's commitment to its flagship initiative, 'Bana Kaih' (hand holding), aimed at uplifting farmers' livelihoods.


A budget of Rs 350 crore has been allocated for this initiative, with Rs 150 crore specifically set aside for the procurement of essential crops.


Lalduhoma projected total revenue receipts, including Rs 8,608.08 crore from central tax devolution, to reach Rs 17,469.91 crore, while total expenditures are estimated at Rs 17,076.92 crore.
