Mitchell Santner to Captain New Zealand in ODI Series Against India
Santner to Lead New Zealand in Five-Match ODI Series Against India
New Zealand has announced its ODI squad for the upcoming five-match series against India, with Mitchell Santner appointed as captain. The series is set to kick off on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland, following a five-match T20I series that runs from October 22 to November 1.
The BLACKCAPS aim to build on their historic 2-1 ODI series win over India earlier this year, which was their first ODI series victory on Indian soil. Finn Allen and Lockie Ferguson are returning to the ODI format after their last appearances in 2023, with Ferguson's most recent match being the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup semi-final against India in Mumbai. Tim Seifert, who last played an ODI about 18 months ago during a home series against Pakistan, is also included. Rachin Ravindra, who missed the T20I squad due to a shoulder injury, will be back for the first three ODIs.
Split Squad for Final Two Matches
In a notable arrangement, seven additional players will join the squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs, as some team members will head to Wellington after the third match to prepare for the upcoming Test series, as reported by New Zealand Cricket.
