Singh commended her determination, while Radhakrishnan praised her consistent performance on behalf of the nation.

In a post on X, Rajnath Singh highlighted Chanu's 'unwavering determination and relentless pursuit of excellence' that has brought honor to India. A Champion's Triumph

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju referred to Chanu as 'a champion, a trailblazer, and a symbol of India's strength.' He congratulated her on winning the Gold Medal in the Women's 48 kg Weightlifting event at the #Glasgow2026 Commonwealth Games, stating, 'Your triumph is more than a medal; it is a celebration of perseverance, excellence, and the indomitable spirit of Nari Shakti. Chanu's Historic Hat-Trick

Mirabai Chanu achieved her third Commonwealth Games gold medal by lifting 105 kg in the clean and jerk category during the women's 48 kg final at Glasgow 2026, marking India's first gold medal of the Games. Previously, she had won gold medals at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Chanu set a Commonwealth record with an 85 kg lift in the snatch. Although she faced an unsuccessful attempt at 82 kg in the clean and jerk, she returned to successfully lift 82 kg on her second attempt and then set a new Games and Commonwealth record with an 85 kg lift on her third attempt.

She concluded her performance by lifting 105 kg, securing the gold medal and completing her hat-trick of Commonwealth Games gold medals.
