Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, seven devotees experienced minor burns when hot lentil soup, known as dal, accidentally spilled on them within the Jagannath temple premises in Puri, according to officials.


The incident occurred in the afternoon when a person responsible for transferring the hot dal, after it was offered to the deities, accidentally dropped it, resulting in the soup splashing onto the devotees.


All those affected are from Nayagarh district. They were promptly taken to the emergency health center located near the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office in Puri for medical attention.


Fortunately, none of the individuals suffered serious injuries, and they were discharged after receiving initial treatment, as confirmed by officials.
