Jaipur, July 14: A young girl from Dinhata, located in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, was reportedly trafficked to Rajasthan under the pretense of job opportunities. She has now been successfully rescued from a spa in Jaipur.

The rescue operation was a collaborative effort between the police forces of West Bengal and Rajasthan, aided by the Association for Voluntary Action (AVA) and Kosi Lok Manch, as confirmed by officials on Tuesday.

Authorities have initiated an investigation aimed at dismantling the trafficking network and apprehending those responsible.

Both AVA and Kosi Lok Manch are affiliated with Just Rights for Children, a prominent child rights organization in India that includes over 250 NGOs dedicated to safeguarding children from trafficking and exploitation.

The girl's family reported her missing on June 18.

During the investigation, police utilized her mobile phone's location, which revealed she was in Jaipur.

The West Bengal Police reached out to Kosi Lok Manch, which promptly coordinated with AVA in Rajasthan to facilitate the rescue operation.

On Sunday, a team from the West Bengal Police, along with the girl's mother, arrived in Jaipur and, with AVA's assistance, commenced a thorough search.

The rescue was complicated by the victim's constantly changing location.

Using technical surveillance, the team first located her in the Sanganer area before pinpointing her final whereabouts near the Jalupura police station, where she was rescued during a raid on Monday morning.

The suspects managed to escape, and efforts to capture them are ongoing.

According to police reports, the girl, who completed up to Class 9, revealed that a young man from Dinhata had enticed her to Jaipur with promises of a lucrative job.

Upon her arrival, she was allegedly handed over to a man named Karan, who has a history of allegations related to commercial sexual exploitation.

Under the guise of employment, he reportedly coerced the minor into working at the spa.

The girl's mother has accused that her daughter was sexually exploited. Previously, the girl had worked as a domestic helper in Jaipur, while her father is a farmer in Dinhata.

The rescued girl is anticipated to return to West Bengal on Wednesday.

Ravi Kant, National Convenor of Just Rights for Children, expressed his satisfaction with the successful rescue, stating, "This incident highlights that trafficking is a complex interstate crime necessitating a coordinated interstate response. The collaborative efforts of the West Bengal and Rajasthan Police, along with our partner organizations, were crucial in this rescue. Such teamwork is essential not only for rescuing children but also for dismantling trafficking networks and ensuring justice for victims. We must identify, prosecute, and hold accountable all individuals involved in trafficking. Prevention, timely intervention, and strict enforcement must work in tandem."
