Michael Vaughan Urges New Indian Cricket Leaders to Step Up

Vaughan's Insights on India's Cricket Future
Michael Vaughan, the former England captain and commentator, believes that the new generation of Indian cricketers, including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant, must collectively assume the leadership role that Virat Kohli previously held alone.
While acknowledging the impressive performances of Indian players in the current Test series, Vaughan cautioned against the challenge of replacing a player of Kohli's caliber.
In an interview, Vaughan stated, "Gill, Jaiswal, and Pant need to propel this Indian Test team forward just as Virat did on his own. I see a group of them playing the game the right way."
He also praised Kohli's legacy, which significantly contributed to India's resurgence and dominance in Test cricket.
"If they can come close to what he brought to the Test team—his energy and maintaining the number one status for an extended period—they will have succeeded," Vaughan added.
Discussing the transition period following the retirements of Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Vaughan emphasized the need for a careful approach, stating, "You can't abruptly move on after losing two legends from the team."
Vaughan expressed hope that Gill would replicate Kohli's aggressive style and remains optimistic about India's chances in the World Test Championship.
"Given the talent India possesses, I wouldn't be concerned. However, I would like to see my Test team be more consistent and competitive across all conditions."
