Special Guests at the State of the Union

On Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trump has extended invitations to two notable guests for President Donald Trump's State of the Union address at the US Capitol. The President is set to deliver his speech at 21:00 ET during a joint session of Congress. Among the attendees are two individuals who have benefited from initiatives supported by Trump.

One of the guests is Sierra Burns, a 24-year-old who has gained from the Foster Youth to Independence program, a federal initiative established in 2019 aimed at assisting young adults transitioning out of foster care into stable housing and independent living. Burns, who has been part of this program, is recognized as an advocate for its cause.

The second guest, Everest Nevraumont, is a 10-year-old student from the Alpha School in Austin, Texas. This school was introduced by the Trump administration as a key part of its educational reforms, featuring classes taught entirely by artificial intelligence. Nevraumont has made a name for herself by winning several History Bee competitions and has participated in TEDx events, gaining national media attention and acting in projects like "T'adpole: An Origin Story."

Melania Trump's guests are expected to underscore the administration's claims of success regarding its initiatives. Other Trump family members are also anticipated to be present at the Capitol. The State of the Union address is a long-standing tradition in the United States, with the first being delivered by George Washington in 1790 in New York City. This address marks Trump's first State of the Union since he began his second term. Following his speech, a member of the opposition party will provide a response, with Abigail Spanberger, the Governor of Virginia, set to deliver the Democratic rebuttal this year.
