Mehbooba Mufti Welcomes US-Iran Ceasefire Amid Regional Tensions

PDP Leader's Remarks on Ceasefire

The leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her approval of the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States on Wednesday. She highlighted that during the ongoing crisis in West Asia, Iran targeted only military installations and refrained from attacking civilian entities such as schools, colleges, and hospitals. In contrast, she criticized the US for launching missiles at these civilian sites, resulting in the loss of innocent lives. Mufti stated that standing firm against a nation like the United States demonstrates 'immense courage and determination' from Iran. She described the day as a moment of celebration, noting that the Muslim community had faced significant hardships for over a month. Iran was under immense pressure and suffering, having endured brutal attacks from the US and Israel, which claimed thousands of lives. The situation was perilous, with Israel and the US launching relentless assaults on Iran. Today, she expressed her happiness that Allah granted Iran the strength to stand against such a superpower. She also acknowledged Pakistan's role in de-escalating tensions, pulling the world back from the brink of war. While the US bombed schools, killing children and destroying colleges, universities, and power plants, Iran focused solely on military targets, avoiding attacks on schools or hospitals.
