Meghalaya Minister Links Businessman's Murder to Love Triangle

Murder Investigation Unveils Love Triangle Motive
Shillong, June 9: The Tourism Minister of Meghalaya, Paul Lyngdoh, has stated that the killing of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore in Sohra stemmed from a complicated love triangle that escalated into a contract killing.
Lyngdoh remarked, “This incident clearly involves a love triangle. The primary suspect engaged contract killers to execute this dreadful act. We commend the Special Investigation Team for resolving the case in just seven days,” during a press briefing on Monday evening.
The minister lauded the rapid investigation as indicative of the Meghalaya Police's capabilities, while also addressing worries regarding the state's reputation as a tourist hotspot.
“This case highlights the efficiency and professionalism of our police force. Meghalaya continues to be a secure destination, and we are dedicated to collaborating with the tourism industry to enhance security and preventive measures for our visitors,” he added.
The main suspect, Sonam, who is Raja Raghuvanshi’s newly married wife, had reportedly vanished from Shillong on May 24.
On June 2, authorities discovered her husband’s remains in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra, with assistance from the Meghalaya Police, SDRF, NDRF, and local guides.
In a turn of events, Sonam turned herself in at the Nandganj Police Station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, initial investigations suggest that Sonam, along with her alleged boyfriend Raj Singh Khushwaha, orchestrated the murder by hiring contract killers and accomplices to carry out the crime.
Reports indicate that Meghalaya Police have obtained a transit remand for Sonam, who is anticipated to be transported to Guwahati later on Tuesday, before being brought to Shillong for further inquiries.
