Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case: Key Developments in Investigation

Police Custody for Accused in Raja Raghuvanshi's Murder

Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with four other suspects involved in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, has been placed in police custody for eight days. Reports indicate that Sonam purchased three mobile phones in Indore. Following her husband's death, she disposed of two of her phones along with Raja's device, which were later traced to the vicinity of the crime scene.

Involvement in Disposing of Raja's Body

Authorities in Shillong have recovered two of Sonam's phones, while two others linked to the murder remain unaccounted for. Investigators suspect that she conducted extensive online searches regarding the murder location and the area where Raja was killed. Disturbingly, she allegedly assisted the three hired killers in disposing of Raja's body into a gorge.

Sonam Admits to Role in the Crime

On Thursday, Sonam admitted her participation in the murder. After the incident, the four suspects fled on three scooters, while Sonam took a train from Guwahati to Indore. Prior to this, she hired a taxi to reach the train station, and Shillong police are currently attempting to locate the taxi driver for his testimony.

Discovery of Personal Items at Sohra Homestay

The investigation took a surprising turn when police discovered a ring and Sonam's mangalsutra in a suitcase left behind at a homestay in Sohra. It has been revealed that the couple arrived in Sohra on May 22. Due to a lack of prior booking, they were unable to secure accommodation and chose to leave their suitcase behind, as carrying it during their planned trek would have been challenging.
