Mayawati Celebrates 70th Birthday with Political Aspirations and Community Outreach
Mayawati's 70th Birthday Celebration
Today, Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, celebrated her 70th birthday, receiving greetings from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav. On this special occasion, she introduced a new political strategy in Uttar Pradesh, promoting the slogan 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay', aiming to unite not only Dalits and backward classes but also Brahmins and Kshatriyas.
Political Promises and Community Engagement
During a press conference held in Lucknow, Mayawati stated that if the BSP returns to power, it will fulfill the aspirations of all communities, similar to its governance in 2007. She assured that concrete measures would be taken for the welfare of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas, while also promising to cater to the needs of the Yadav community, traditionally considered core supporters of the Samajwadi Party.
Respect for Brahmins and Political Critique
Mayawati emphasized that the BSP has always respected the Brahmin community, asserting that they do not require anyone's 'charity' and should not be swayed by the BJP, SP, or Congress. She guaranteed that under a BSP government, the interests of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Jats would be prioritized, while continuing to protect Dalits and minorities. She referenced concerns raised by Brahmin legislators during the previous winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly regarding their neglect and mistreatment.
Concerns Over EVMs and Future Elections
Mayawati reiterated her distrust in electronic voting machines (EVMs) and urged BSP workers to work diligently for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027. Additionally, she launched the 21st edition of her autobiography (Blue Book), detailing the party's history and struggles. She criticized the Samajwadi Party's 'PDA' (Backward, Dalit, Minority) platform, labeling it a deception, and accused the party of focusing solely on a specific segment of the Yadav community.
Engagement with Jat Community and Farmers
In her outreach to the Jat community in western Uttar Pradesh and sugarcane farmers, Mayawati reminded them of the significant opportunities provided to educated Jat youth in police recruitment during her administration, assuring that their interests would continue to be safeguarded.
Technical Glitch During Press Conference
During Mayawati's press conference, a technical malfunction caused a brief panic when smoke emerged from lighting equipment on stage, leading to the event's abrupt halt for safety reasons. She accused both the Congress and BJP of employing various tactics to undermine the BSP movement in the country.
Birthday Wishes from Political Rivals
On her birthday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav extended their best wishes to Mayawati. Adityanath expressed his hopes for her long life and good health on social media, while Yadav wished her continued efforts for social justice. The BSP is celebrating Mayawati's birthday across Uttar Pradesh as 'Jan Kalyankari Divas', with party workers demonstrating their support through various social initiatives.
