Mayawati Appoints Nephew Akash Anand as BSP's Chief National Coordinator: What This Means for the Party

Strategic Appointment in BSP

New Delhi: In a pivotal development, Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has appointed her nephew Akash Anand as the Chief National Coordinator of the party on Sunday.

This decision emerged from a crucial party meeting and indicates a renewed emphasis on restructuring the organization.

As part of this reorganization, Mayawati has mandated the establishment of teams by segmenting the nation into three zones, each overseen by a National Coordinator. These zonal coordinators will report directly to Akash Anand, who is tasked with enhancing party operations and coordination throughout India.

Mayawati expressed her hope that Akash Anand would fortify the party's ideological base by implementing measures beneficial to both the party and its movement.

Commenting on this development, senior BSP leader Vijay Pratap stated, “The nation has been divided into three sectors, with a National Coordinator appointed for each. Akash Anand will oversee these efforts as the Chief National Coordinator. Our party workers nationwide are thrilled, their spirits are elevated, and under Akash Anand Ji’s guidance, the organization is set to grow stronger.”

This strategic move follows Mayawati's recent decision to reinstate Akash Anand into the party's core operations.

On April 29, she urged party members to support Akash, who had previously been stripped of significant responsibilities.

In a comprehensive post on the social media platform X, Mayawati elaborated on the internal workings of the party and justified her choice.

She stated, “Some BSP members, due to ignorance, over-enthusiasm, carelessness, or being misled by opposition conspiracies, are sometimes removed from their roles, and in serious cases, expelled. After reflecting and apologizing, they are reinstated for the sake of the party and its movement. This has been our practice since the party's inception.”

In response to the backlash regarding Akash’s return, she remarked, “Certain selfish individuals within the Bahujan Samaj, who have formed their own parties to fracture the BSP vote, have been disseminating false information in the media about his reinstatement.”
