Massive Fire Erupts Near Rancho Maria Lane, Smoke Visible for Miles
Fire Incident Overview
A significant fire has broken out north of State Route 67 at Rancho Maria Lane, producing a large smoke plume that can be seen from several miles away, according to officials. This incident, referred to as the Main Fire, is occurring in an area characterized by light and easily ignitable materials. Authorities reported that at least three aircraft were deployed to assist in combating the flames, with visible retardant drops being made.
By 12:40 PM, Sky Ranger 7 was monitoring the situation, and it appeared that both aerial and ground efforts were effectively making progress, as evidenced by the substantial red retardant being dropped around the fire's perimeter. In response to the emergency, Caltrans has closed State Route 67 in both directions between Dye Road and Hope Street to facilitate the firefighting operations. The timeline for reopening the highway remains uncertain.
