Fire Breaks Out at Nature Bazaar
A significant fire erupted early Sunday morning at the renowned Nature Bazaar located near Lado Sarai in South Delhi, causing extensive damage. Approximately 50 shops, primarily selling handicrafts and artworks, were completely destroyed in this catastrophic incident. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the first alert about the fire was received at 7:37 AM. The blaze quickly escalated due to the presence of numerous temporary and semi-permanent stalls filled with wood, fabric, and craft items, resulting in thick black smoke engulfing the sky.
In response to the severity of the situation, the fire department promptly dispatched 10 fire engines to the scene.
Rapid Spread of Flames
Officials reported that the fire broke out in the Nature Bazaar area near Andheria Mod, where many temporary and semi-permanent shops were located. Following the incident, the flames rapidly spread to several shops, leading to visible plumes of smoke rising from the market complex. Firefighters launched a comprehensive operation to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
Extent of Damage and Ongoing Efforts
According to officials, nearly 50 shops were destroyed, resulting in significant losses of goods and structures. Firefighters are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire completely and conducting cooling operations in the area. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Meanwhile, police officers arrived at the scene to manage the crowd and assist with firefighting efforts.
