Significant Explosive Discovery in Tonk
Tonk (Rajasthan): Authorities reported the seizure of a substantial quantity of explosives, totaling 150 kg, along with 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire from a vehicle on Wednesday.
Two individuals have been taken into custody.
The suspects, identified as Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi, hail from Bundi district, according to officials.
Following a tip-off, the District Special Team (DST) intercepted a vehicle in the Baroni police station jurisdiction and discovered approximately 150 kg of ammonium nitrate hidden within sacks of urea fertilizer, as stated by DSP Mrityunjay Mishra.
The suspects were allegedly transporting the explosive materials from Bundi to Tonk for distribution.
In addition to the ammonium nitrate, law enforcement also confiscated 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire, which measured around 1,100 meters. The vehicle used for the transport was also impounded.
Mishra noted that the operation was executed swiftly after receiving precise intelligence, and further inquiries are ongoing to determine the origin, intended purpose, and potential connections of the seized explosives.
Investigators are interrogating the suspects to assess whether the shipment was intended for illicit activities, including mining.
