Mass Yoga Sessions Planned for International Yoga Day in Uttar Pradesh Schools
Celebrating International Yoga Day
On June 21, Sunday, over 1.32 lakh government schools and 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Uttar Pradesh will witness participation from approximately 14.3 million students in collective yoga sessions. According to a statement released by the state government on Saturday, these yoga programs will be organized across schools, involving not only students but also teachers, education friends, instructors, and parents.
Involvement of Students and Monitoring
More than 78,000 girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will also take part in this initiative. Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, the Director of Basic Education, has been appointed as the nodal officer to effectively oversee and coordinate these events. The statement emphasized that the state government's efforts to promote yoga and establish a foundation for a healthy lifestyle will be evident in this year's celebrations, with various yoga-related activities planned in school campuses from rural to urban areas.
Preparations Underway for a Successful Event
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Basic Education Department has completed all necessary preparations for a successful International Yoga Day celebration. Following directives from the central Ministry of AYUSH and the Ministry of Education, essential guidelines have been issued to all divisional assistant education directors, district basic education officers, and block education officers in the state. The education department aims to ensure that International Yoga Day transcends mere formalities, leaving a lasting message of healthy habits and positive lifestyles among students.
Educational Activities and Community Involvement
On June 21, schools will host collective yoga sessions, pranayama classes, and awareness programs focused on the significance of yoga. Students will also be educated about the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. To spread the message of yoga to a broader audience, the involvement of parents and the local community will be encouraged. The statement highlighted that under Chief Minister Adityanath's leadership, numerous initiatives have been undertaken in recent years to integrate yoga into school life and public health in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing the development of health, discipline, concentration, and positive thinking among students.
