Mass Protests Erupt in Lucknow Against Alleged Assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader
Protests in Lucknow Over Khamenei's Alleged Assassination
On Sunday, a significant number of residents took to the streets in the old neighborhoods of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, to protest against the alleged assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reportedly orchestrated by the United States and Israel.
Prominent Shia cleric Maulana Yasub Abbas condemned Khamenei's assassination, labeling it as "extremely unfortunate" for the global community. Speaking to a news outlet, he expressed that the world mistakenly believes that Khamenei's death would lead to the downfall of Iran, asserting that the U.S. and Israel would face a strong retaliation from Iran. A large protest is scheduled to take place at 8:30 PM at the Imambara in Lucknow. The All India Shia Personal Law Board has declared three days of mourning, during which participants will wear black clothing and display black flags at their homes.
Iran's Response and Mourning Period
Meanwhile, Iran is observing a 40-day public mourning period, as reported by Iranian state media. The Iranian embassy in India has vehemently condemned the assassination of Khamenei, describing it as an "unforgivable crime" and urging governments worldwide to denounce this act. The embassy also shared a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, referencing military actions taken by Iran against a U.S. ship and naval base in Kuwait.
In a statement, the embassy expressed profound sorrow over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei due to the brutal and criminal attacks by the Zionist governments of the United States and Israel. It extended heartfelt condolences to the Muslim Ummah, the great nation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all freedom-loving nations around the world.
