Maruti Suzuki's Fronx Achieves Milestone with 200,000 Exports
Significant Achievement for Indian Automobile Industry
A remarkable milestone has been reached in the Indian automobile sector as Maruti Suzuki's compact SUV, Fronx, sets a new record in exports. According to the company, Fronx has surpassed the mark of 200,000 units exported in less than 38 months. This achievement makes it the fastest SUV to reach the 200,000 export units milestone from India.
Rapid Growth in Exports
The export of Fronx commenced in June 2023, and it quickly established a strong presence in international markets. Previously, in July 2025, Fronx had already crossed the 100,000 export units mark in just 25 months. Now, approximately 13 months later, the company has achieved the 200,000 export milestone.
This accomplishment is particularly significant as Fronx is viewed as a testament to the production capacity and quality of Indian manufacturing in global markets. The SUV is produced at the Hansalpur Manufacturing Plant in Gujarat and is exported to around 90 countries.
Why Fronx is Gaining Popularity Abroad
Fronx is recognized in the compact SUV segment for its style, fuel efficiency, and various powertrain options. In India, it is available with petrol and CNG variants, along with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine option. Different variants offer both manual and automatic transmission.
Regarding fuel efficiency, Fronx is reported to deliver between 20.01 kmpl and 28.51 km/kg. The mileage capacity of the CNG variant makes it particularly appealing to customers focused on fuel economy.
Global Reach from Japan to Latin America
Maruti Suzuki has successfully introduced Fronx in several international markets. The company's success in Japan has played a crucial role in boosting export volumes. Fronx is also exported to markets in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
This achievement is vital for the company as Fronx was the highest exported passenger vehicle from India in FY 2024-25, with over 69,000 units shipped abroad during that fiscal year.
Strengthening Export Business
The success of Fronx comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki's overall export business is also on the rise. The company recorded a historic export of 447,774 vehicles in FY 2025-26, marking an increase of over 34% compared to the previous fiscal year. The company has maintained its position as India's number one passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive fiscal year.
In addition to Fronx, Maruti Suzuki's export portfolio includes models like Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire, which are sent to various international markets including Africa, Latin America, Japan, and the Middle East.
Growing Influence of 'Made in India'
The achievement of exporting 200,000 units of Fronx is considered significant for the Indian auto industry. The rapid export of such a large number of vehicles indicates a growing demand for cars manufactured in India in global markets.
This milestone reinforces Maruti Suzuki's strategy to position India not just as a production hub for the domestic market but as a global automobile manufacturing center under the motto ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.
