Major Investment Announcement
Gandhinagar, January 17: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has revealed plans to invest ₹35,000 crore in establishing a new manufacturing facility in Khoraj, Gujarat, which is expected to produce 10 lakh vehicles annually.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel shared the news on X, highlighting that this initiative will create over 12,000 jobs and stimulate the growth of ancillary businesses and MSMEs in the region, thereby forming a strong automotive manufacturing hub.
During a ceremony in Gandhinagar, Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director, Hitachi Takeuchi, presented the investment letter to the Chief Minister.
Patel expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am pleased to witness the handover of the Investment Letter from Maruti Suzuki India Limited to the Gujarat Government for the establishment of a major car manufacturing facility at Khoraj, with an investment of ₹35,000 crore.”
He emphasized that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative, Gujarat is enhancing India’s manufacturing landscape.
Patel further noted, “Maruti Suzuki's presence strengthens the longstanding India-Japan partnership and showcases global trust in Gujarat’s governance, infrastructure, and business-friendly environment. Gujarat is now a prominent automobile hub and a favored choice for international investors.”
The new Maruti Suzuki plant will occupy 1,750 acres of land allocated by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
Earlier this week, the leading car manufacturer announced that its board approved a ₹4,960-crore plan to acquire land for expanding its production capabilities in Gujarat.
This land acquisition aims to enhance the production capacity at the Khoraj Industrial Estate, with a proposed increase of up to 1 million (10 lakh) units, as stated in an exchange filing by Maruti Suzuki India.
In 2025, the company achieved a record production of over 22.55 lakh vehicles, marking its highest output in a calendar year. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki exported 3.95 lakh vehicles in 2025, the highest in its history, reflecting a growth of over 21% compared to 2024.
