Murder Investigation in Mau District

In Mau, Uttar Pradesh, police have apprehended a married woman and her current partner in connection with the murder of her alleged former lover. The incident occurred in the Sarayalkhansi police jurisdiction, where a young man was fatally stabbed early Monday morning.

Initially, there were various speculations regarding the victim's identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident. However, a thorough police investigation revealed that the case stemmed from a romantic entanglement and personal grievances. The victim was identified as Asgar Ali, a resident of Jangipur in Ghazipur district, who had been living in the area on rent.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anup Kumar, the accused woman, Shahzadi, had been living separately from her husband for approximately two and a half years and had developed a relationship with Asgar Ali.

Shahzadi has five children, with her eldest daughter already married. During questioning, she disclosed that her friendship with Asgar evolved into a romantic relationship while she was separated from her husband. However, conflicts arose between them, leading her to grow closer to Akash Rao, a resident of Munshipura.

The accused claimed that Asgar opposed their relationship upon learning about it and allegedly assaulted him. Following this, Shahzadi conspired with Akash Rao to eliminate Asgar, renting a room in Sultanpur (Kanshiram Housing) for this purpose. ASP Kumar reported that around 4:40 AM on Monday, Akash Rao, accompanied by his associate Suraj Rajbhar, arrived at the location. As Asgar woke up, Suraj restrained him, allowing Akash to stab him in the chest with a sharp knife, resulting in his immediate death.

After the incident, both suspects fled the scene on a scooter, while Shahzadi left the room shortly after. Police have since arrested Shahzadi and Suraj Rajbhar, recovering the weapon used in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to locate the absconding suspect, Akash Rao.
