Marc Marquez Clinches Pole Position at Hungarian Grand Prix After Early Crash

Marquez's Remarkable Comeback

In a thrilling turn of events, six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez made an impressive comeback from an early crash to secure pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix. He edged out Pedro Acosta by a mere 0.053 seconds during the exciting qualifying session held at Balaton Park on Saturday.

Representing the Ducati Lenovo Team, Marquez faced a lowside crash at Turn 1 early in Q2. However, he managed to clock a best lap time of 1:36.785, preventing Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Acosta from achieving his first pole position. Acosta had been leading the session, consistently improving his lap times, but Marquez delivered a near-perfect lap in the final moments to take the lead. He further enhanced his time by an additional 0.006 seconds on his last attempt, securing the top spot.

Front Row Lineup

Fermin Aldeguer from BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rounded out the front row in third place, although he finished over three-tenths behind Marquez's pole-winning time.

Qualifying Session Highlights

The qualifying session was filled with excitement right from the start. Shortly after Marquez's crash, Fabio Di Giannantonio of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team also fell at nearly the same location on the track. Fortunately, both riders were able to continue without major injuries and remained competitive throughout the session.

Q1 Advancers

In the earlier Q1 session, Francesco Bagnaia made a late surge to top the session and secure his place in Q2. He was joined by Luca Marini from Honda HRC Castrol. Joan Mir narrowly missed advancing, and Fabio Quartararo from Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP also failed to qualify after losing valuable time in the final sector of his crucial lap.

Top 12 Qualifiers

Di Giannantonio qualified fourth, just missing a front-row start, while Bagnaia secured fifth place after advancing from Q1. Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi from Aprilia Racing will start in sixth position. Raul Fernandez took seventh, followed by Jorge Martin in eighth, with Marini finishing ninth after a successful Q1. Ai Ogura completed the top ten, while Diogo Moreira and Jack Miller rounded out the Q2 participants in 11th and 12th places, respectively.
