Encounter with Security Forces in Latehar

On Monday, a member of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed during an encounter with security forces in Latehar district, Jharkhand. Authorities had placed a bounty of five lakh rupees on him, according to a senior police official.


The official further reported that another Maoist was apprehended during the operation. The clash occurred late Sunday night in the forests of Dauna, located in the Mahuadanr police station area.


Y.S. Ramesh, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for Palamu, informed a news agency, "The Maoist Manish Yadav, who had a bounty of five lakh rupees, was killed in the encounter with security forces. Another Maoist, Kundan Kherwar, was arrested."


Just two days prior, on Saturday morning, two Naxals, including a top leader of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), Pappu Lohra, were killed in a confrontation with security forces in Latehar district. Pappu had a reward of ten lakh rupees on his head.
