Manipur Sees Rise in COVID-19 Cases: 33 New Infections Reported

Imphal, June 23: In the last 24 hours, Manipur has recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total number of infections since June 1 to 145, as per the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) data.
The latest cases emerged from 101 samples tested between 2 PM on June 21 and 2 PM on June 22. The majority of the new infections, 27, were reported in Imphal West, while Imphal East and Thoubal districts each recorded three cases.
On Monday, five more individuals recovered from the virus, all of whom were in home isolation, bringing the total number of recoveries to 13. Currently, the active caseload in the state is 132, with 122 individuals isolating at home.
Since the start of June, a total of 469 samples have been tested in Manipur, with no COVID-related fatalities reported during this timeframe.
Overall, since the pandemic began, the state has documented 140,185 confirmed cases, 137,904 recoveries, and 2,149 deaths.
Health officials are advising residents to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, particularly with the rise of new sub-variants like LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1, which have been identified across the nation.
As of June 21, India's total active COVID-19 cases stood at 4,425, according to the Union Health Ministry.
In the Northeast region, Assam has reported 41 active cases, Sikkim 46, while Nagaland and Tripura each have one case. Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh currently report no active COVID-19 cases.
