Strengthening Surveillance in Manipur
Imphal, Dec 16: The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has urged the state's police force to enhance their surveillance capabilities by utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence. This initiative is part of the broader national goal to establish a drug-free society.
During a recent conference held at Lok Bhavan in Imphal, Governor Bhalla emphasized the importance of this directive while presiding over a meeting involving the home and police departments.
The conference aimed to share significant outcomes from the DGsP/IGsP Conference 2025, which took place in Raipur from November 28 to 30.
Additionally, the Governor stressed the need for practical training and skill development for police personnel.
At the conference, Rajiv Singh, the Director General of Police for Manipur, provided the Governor with an overview of the recommendations proposed by the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
Singh pointed out critical focus areas including the enhancement of law and order, counter-terrorism efforts, addressing left-wing extremism, disaster management, civil defense, improved forensic practices, women's safety, handling mass protests, and strategies for repatriating Indian fugitives.
Furthermore, the DGP shared valuable insights from discussions led by the Prime Minister regarding the 'Drug-Free India' initiative and by the Union Home Minister concerning national security.
