Manipur CM Urges Unity for Peace and Development
Call for Collective Efforts in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 9: On Sunday, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh urged citizens from all communities to come together for the sake of peace, development, and the safeguarding of Manipur’s territorial integrity.
Khemchand emphasized that the historical preservation of Manipur’s territorial integrity has been a collective endeavor by all communities.
“Meiteis should not focus solely on their interests, Nagas should not prioritize only their concerns, and Kukis should not think just for themselves. Our focus should be on Manipur as a whole,” he stated.
He encouraged the Meitei community to adopt a 'big brother' role in fostering unity within Manipur.
These comments were made during the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra, organized by the Imphal Central District BJP and hosted by the Singjamei Mandal BJP in Imphal.
The Chief Minister reflected on Manipur’s legacy of inclusive governance, recalling that it was one of the first regions in Southeast Asia to conduct Assembly elections in 1947-48 under its own Constitution.
He also mentioned that the first Speaker of the Assembly was a Paite tribal leader from Churachandpur district.
During his visit to Kangpokpi on Saturday, Khemchand noted the warm reception he received and observed no signs of a blockade on the National Highways.
He also highlighted his recent trip to Jiribam, where individuals from various communities united to promote peace.
Khemchand accused certain individuals of trying to create divisions among communities.
He pointed out that the tragic explosion in Tronglaobi village, which resulted in the deaths of two children, illustrated that some factions still resist the restoration of peace in Manipur.
He called on the populace to unite as Indians and strive towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed Bharat and a developed Manipur.
BJP Manipur in-charge Dr. Ajeet Gopchade remarked that under Khemchand’s guidance, Manipur is progressing towards peace and development.
He praised the contributions of women in the state, noting their determination in making the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra a success despite adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, BJP State president A. Sharda Devi affirmed that the BJP-led government is dedicated to restoring peace in Manipur. She highlighted the Chief Minister's ongoing visits to hill districts to help normalize the situation.
She acknowledged that while opposition parties may criticize the government, the BJP remains steadfast in its commitment to lead Manipur towards peace and prosperity.
