Imphal, Oct 22: Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, expressed his administration's dedication to addressing the needs of all communities to foster a peaceful, secure, and inclusive environment within the state.

A senior official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reported that during a meeting with representatives from the Maring and Tangkhul Naga communities in Machi, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the welfare of every community.

At the CM’s Secretariat, the delegation presented various concerns related to infrastructure, healthcare, security, and community development in the Maring Naga villages of the district.

The Maring Uparap Assembly, a leading civil society group representing the Maring Naga community, brought attention to several urgent issues that require government intervention.

The delegation emphasized the necessity for improved roads and bridges to enhance connectivity between villages. They also requested the Chief Minister to elevate the existing Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Machi to a Community Health Centre (CHC) to bolster healthcare services and accessibility for residents.

Regarding law enforcement, the representatives pointed out the inadequate number of police personnel at the Machi Block Police Station, which currently has only 25 officers to serve approximately 50 villages.

They urged the Chief Minister to reinforce the police station by assigning additional staff.

Furthermore, the delegation highlighted that the Bank of Baroda is the sole banking institution in the Machi Block area and stressed the importance of implementing sufficient security measures to protect its employees, customers, and assets.

They also requested the establishment of a community hall in each village to facilitate public meetings, social events, and other communal activities.

CM Singh listened attentively to the delegation and assured them that the government would take appropriate actions regarding the issues raised, according to the CMO official.

The delegation was led by Jajo Sylvester, Headman, along with Wairok Hangshing, President of the Maring Uparap Assembly, and Bosco Maring, Chairman of Machi Village.
