Addressing the Consequences of Ongoing Unrest

Imphal, July 27 - The Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, expressed on Monday that the prolonged unrest in the state has adversely affected inter-community relations, education, and the economy. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the newly constructed Ima (Mother) Market in Andro assembly constituency, along with two bridges over the Thoubal River at Khungdongbam Mapal and Wangkhom Sifai Leikai.

Singh emphasized that peace is the foundation of development, noting that the ongoing turmoil has disrupted social harmony, hindered the education of the youth, and caused economic setbacks for the state. He urged all communities from both the hills and valley regions to collaborate in restoring peace, expressing a desire to rebuild Manipur to its state prior to May 3, 2023, when all 36 communities coexisted harmoniously.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will allocate ₹10 crore for the construction and improvement of small roads connecting villages within the Andro assembly area.
