Mass Yoga Sessions Held in Mandi


On Sunday, Mandi district witnessed a vibrant celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day, with hundreds of participants, including public officials, judicial members, students, and local residents, engaging in mass yoga sessions. This event underscored the increasing recognition of yoga as a vital practice for enhancing physical fitness, mental health, and overall well-being.


The main event took place at the historic Seri Manch, where attendees practiced various yoga postures, pranayama, and meditation under the supervision of skilled instructors.


During the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gursimar Singh addressed the crowd, emphasizing that yoga is not merely a physical activity but a comprehensive approach to healthy living. He noted that consistent yoga practice can enhance children's focus, boost confidence in youth, alleviate stress for working adults, and promote healthier lifestyles for seniors. He encouraged everyone to integrate yoga into their daily lives.


The session began with warm-up exercises, followed by demonstrations of various asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Trikonasana, Mandukasana, Vajrasana, Vakrasana, and Bhadrasana. Participants also engaged in pranayama and meditation.


The yoga session was led by Dr. Priya, Pharmacist Ashok Kumar, Rajkamal from Navotthan Seva Dham NGO, Maya Vardhan from the Art of Living, along with yoga instructors Rekha and Soni, who shared insights on the health advantages of regular yoga practice.


Notable attendees included Former Minister and Mandi Sadar MLA Anil Sharma, Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, Municipal Corporation Councillor Suman, District AYUSH Officer Dr. Sanjay Sharma, along with faculty and students from Sardar Patel University and Vallabh Government College, trainees from ITIs, and educators from various schools.


In a related event, the District and Sessions Court in Mandi also marked International Yoga Day with a dedicated yoga session on its grounds.


District and Sessions Judge Paras Dogra, the chief guest, urged judicial officers, lawyers, and court personnel to adopt yoga as a regular practice to enhance physical fitness, mental strength, and emotional health.


The session was facilitated by yoga instructors Dr. Kiran Thakur and Yogesh Kumar from the AYUSH Department, who guided participants through various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation, while discussing their long-term health benefits.


These celebrations showcased the district's unified effort in participating in the nationwide observance of International Yoga Day, reinforcing the importance of making yoga a daily habit for a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
