Manchester City Secures Elliot Anderson in Record Transfer Deal
Transfer Agreement Confirmed
Manchester City has officially announced an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the acquisition of midfielder Elliot Anderson. The 23-year-old is set to join the Premier League champions after a significant transfer following the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Club's Official Announcement
In their statement, Manchester City expressed, "We have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson's transfer. Currently, Anderson is participating in the FIFA World Cup with the England team and has successfully completed a medical examination in Kansas. The final details of the transfer will be completed once he returns to England. Meanwhile, we wish Elliot and the England squad the best of luck in their World Cup journey, and we eagerly await his arrival in Manchester."
Historic Transfer Fee
As reported by Sky Sports, the transfer fee for Anderson is a staggering GBP 116 million, making him the most expensive British player ever. This surpasses the GBP 115 million that Real Madrid paid for Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023. Only Liverpool's GBP 125 million acquisition of Alexander Isak and their GBP 116.5 million deal for Florian Wirtz last summer rank higher in the Premier League's history of incoming transfers.
Anderson's Choice
According to Sky Sports, Anderson chose Manchester City over Manchester United and other clubs that showed interest. Nottingham Forest was willing to negotiate with either team, but the final decision was made by the player, who opted for City.
