Severe Sentence for Disturbing Crime

A special court in Una has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for the rape and intimidation of his 13-year-old niece in 2023. This information was released by the police on Saturday.

Judge Naresh Thakur imposed a fine of ₹55,000 on the accused, identified as Only Krishna, aged 43. The case came to light when the victim reported the incident at the women's police station in Una in November 2023, claiming that her uncle had assaulted her and threatened her to remain silent.

Feeling distressed by her uncle's actions, the girl confided in her aunt, who then assisted her in filing a complaint. According to official reports, the girl lived with her father and uncle after her mother passed away a few years ago. Her father worked as a confectioner and was often away at work.

Krishna was employed as a plumber. The court also sentenced him to one year in prison for threatening the victim, along with an additional fine of ₹5,000.

The court stated that if the accused fails to pay the fine, an extra month will be added to his sentence. Both sentences will run concurrently, and the total fine to be paid by the defendant amounts to ₹55,000. District Advocate Eklavya noted that a total of 14 witnesses testified in court.
