Court Delivers Verdict in Ballia Case

A special court in Ballia has convicted an individual for the kidnapping and subsequent rape of a minor, sentencing him to 25 years in prison along with a fine. This decision was announced by a senior official from the prosecution department on Friday.


Prosecutor P.N. Swami reported that the special judge under the POCSO Act, Firstkant, concluded the trial on Thursday, finding Ajay Rajbhar guilty and imposing a sentence of 25 years in prison along with a monetary penalty of ₹30,000.


According to officials, the minor girl, a resident of a village in the Pakri police station area, was abducted on August 31, 2021, by Ajay Rajbhar, who resides in Banhera village within the Sikandar Pur police jurisdiction, and was subsequently raped.


Following a complaint lodged by the girl's father, a case was registered against Ajay Rajbhar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police completed their investigation and filed a charge sheet in court, leading to the sentencing after the trial concluded.
