Court Ruling on Voyeurism Case


Mendipathar: A court in the North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya has sentenced a man to one year in prison for peeping into a bathroom while a girl was bathing, as confirmed by officials on Friday.


The incident took place back in December 2019.


The accused faced charges under Section 354C of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to voyeurism, as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.


Judge B Joshi of the POCSO court handed down the one-year sentence and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.


The court emphasized that such violations of privacy are serious offenses and will be addressed with strictness under the law.
