Man Arrested for Assaulting Children Over Pea Theft in Chhattisgarh
Incident in Balrampur District
In Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly beating two children after they picked peas from a field. Police officials provided this information on Wednesday.
According to the police, Kapil Uraon, aged 26, was arrested for tying up and assaulting two minor boys in the village of Ladua, located within the jurisdiction of the Rajpur police station.
The complaint was filed by Krishna Nath Toppo, 40, who reported that on the afternoon of the 4th of this month, his neighbor and relative, Kapil Uraon, became angry when he saw the boys eating peas from his field and subsequently tied up and beat his seven-year-old son along with another child.
Authorities stated that following Krishna Nath's complaint, a case was registered against Kapil, who was then taken into custody for questioning.
It was revealed that last Sunday, when Krishna Nath and other villagers were eating peas from the field, Kapil, in a fit of rage, took both children to his home, bound their hands and feet with rope, and assaulted them.
After confessing to his crime, Kapil was arrested and presented in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
A video of the assault has gone viral on social media, showing the two children on the ground with their hands and feet tied. In the footage, a voice can be heard asking if they had picked the peas, to which one child responds that he does not know.
