Tragic Incident in Bagalkot District

In Bagalkot district of Karnataka, a 29-year-old man has been taken into custody on charges of murdering his wife due to suspicions of an extramarital affair. Authorities reported this development on Tuesday. It was revealed that the accused allegedly recorded a video of the incident while his wife was hanging from a noose.

The police discovered the body of Bhagyashree Jigalur at the couple's residence in Galgali village, Bilagi taluk, on Monday evening. Following a complaint lodged by the victim's father, law enforcement initiated a murder case against her husband, Praveen Ashok Jigalur, and subsequently arrested him.

According to police reports, the suspect purportedly filmed his wife while she was suspended from the noose, capturing her struggles on video. Allegations suggest that he later shared this footage with the victim's family and several acquaintances.

Investigators are currently working to determine whether the woman was hanged after being assaulted or if she took her own life following the altercation. Marks of injury were found on her body during the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the accused harbored suspicions about his wife's alleged illicit relationship with another individual.

Authorities have also recovered the alleged video from the woman's mobile phone, along with footage recorded by the accused after the incident. Siddharth Goyal, the Superintendent of Police in Bagalkot, stated that the suspect shared these videos with the victim's father, family members, and some friends. 'We have successfully retrieved these videos,' he confirmed. The couple had been married since 2020 and had been living together for nearly four years.

They have a three-year-old son.
