Incident at Nagpur International Airport

A man was apprehended at Nagpur International Airport after authorities discovered a homemade pistol and ammunition in his possession. The police reported this incident on Saturday.


The individual has been identified as Anil Shrikrishna Porad, who serves as the head of a tribal wing for a political party. He hails from Yavatmal in eastern Maharashtra.


Porad arrived at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport around 9 PM on Friday, intending to board a flight to Delhi. An official stated that personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) noticed a suspicious item during the inspection of his luggage. Upon opening the bag, they found a homemade firearm along with two bullets.


Airport officials promptly alerted the Songaon police station, dispatching a team to the scene. According to a police officer, Porad was unable to explain why he was carrying the firearm during the interrogation. He was subsequently taken to the police station and arrested under the Arms Act.


Authorities are currently investigating the reasons behind Porad's possession of the firearm and how he managed to bring it into the airport despite stringent security regulations.
