Allegations Against BJP's Political Maneuvering

On August 7, in Kolkata, a leader from the faction supporting former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused splinter groups of the Trinamool Congress of being part of a scheme orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to create a 'managed opposition' in the state. Kunal Ghosh, a Trinamool MLA aligned with Banerjee, referenced recent meetings in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in Kolkata with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, attended by dissatisfied leaders.

During a breakfast meeting hosted by Prime Minister Modi in the national capital, over 40 MPs from the NDA coalition participated, prompting Ghosh to make his allegations. Among the attendees were members of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI). Concurrently, a 13-member delegation from the Trinamool faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee met with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna, where they called for the establishment of a regional tribunal to resolve disputes related to the electoral rolls during a special intensive review (SIR).

However, both the NCPI and Ritabrata Banerjee's faction dismissed these accusations. Ghosh claimed that the BJP and its 'B-team' are collaborating to undermine effective anti-government politics in the state. He stated to reporters, 'The traitors of the B-team met with the Prime Minister, while the second traitor of the B-team visited the Chief Minister at Nabanna.'

He further asserted that the NCPI, formed by discontented Trinamool MPs, is a politically 'directionless' organization seeking legal and political protection. Ghosh also accused Ritabrata Banerjee's faction of working alongside the BJP, commenting on the political futures of the leaders involved in both meetings, suggesting that their 'political careers are nearly over.' He alleged that they are attempting to mislead voters.

Ghosh concluded, 'When they return to seek votes from the public, the people of Bengal will give them a fitting response.'
