Mamata Banerjee Unveils TMC Manifesto Ahead of West Bengal Elections

TMC's Promises for West Bengal's Future

On Friday, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, introduced the Trinamool Congress (TMC) manifesto in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, which will occur in two phases. Aiming for her fourth consecutive term, Banerjee highlighted ten key 'commitments' outlined in the manifesto that her party intends to fulfill if they return to power after the elections. During a press conference in Kolkata, the TMC leader asserted that these ten promises are designed to foster further development in the state. She also accused the central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of orchestrating a 'conspiracy' against her administration, stating that the level of deceit observed during this election cycle has surpassed all previous limits.

Voting in West Bengal is scheduled for April 23 and 29, with the counting of votes set for May 4. The core of the TMC manifesto revolves around Banerjee's ten pledges, which include commitments to welfare and development. The party has promised to increase the financial assistance under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme by ₹500, raising the monthly support for women from the general category to ₹1,500 and for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries to ₹1,700. Additionally, the TMC will continue to provide a monthly allowance of ₹1,500 to unemployed youth under the Banglar Yuba-Sathi scheme and has proposed a ₹30,000 crore agricultural budget to assist farmers, including landless farmers.

The manifesto also includes promises for every family to have a permanent home and access to piped drinking water in all households. Furthermore, it outlines plans to conduct annual 'Duare Chikitsa' health camps to deliver healthcare services directly to residents. The manifesto commits to upgrading the infrastructure of government schools and aims to develop Bengal as a modern hub and a center for global trade in Eastern India.
