Mamata Banerjee Addresses Diplomatic Mission Inquiry
On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not received any invitation to nominate a representative for the Centre's multi-party diplomatic initiative aimed at combating terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.
Banerjee remarked, "We have not received any request. If we had, we would have considered it. Our stance is in favor of the nation. We have consistently supported the Centre's foreign policy. Currently, we are backing the government's perspectives and actions. They cannot unilaterally decide on a member's name; that is the prerogative of the party. Should they approach us for a nomination, we will determine the name and communicate it to them. This does not imply that we are boycotting or refusing to participate."
