Tragic Helicopter Accident in Uttarakhand

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, expressed her sorrow on Sunday regarding the helicopter crash near the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand. All seven individuals aboard the helicopter lost their lives in this unfortunate incident.


According to officials, the victims included the helicopter pilot, a staff member from the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee, and five pilgrims. Banerjee took to the social media platform 'X' to share her thoughts, stating, 'This morning, we received the tragic news of another civil aviation accident, this time from the Kedarnath-Gaurikund-Guptkashi region of Uttarakhand. There were a total of seven people on board, including a child and the pilot.'


She further added, 'We are awaiting the results of the rescue and search operations. My prayers are with everyone who was on the helicopter.'


As per reports, the helicopter took off from Kedarnath around 5:30 AM, heading towards Guptkashi, but crashed shortly after departure. The accident site is located approximately five kilometers above Gaurikund, near 'Gauri Mai Khark.'
