She declared that they will not bow to any hostile forces and will persist in their fight for the public's rights throughout their lives. She paid her respects to all dedicated workers and supporters of the 'Maa-Mati-Manush' family.
Abhishek Banerjee's Remarks on TMC's Commitment
TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee also reiterated the party's commitment to standing with the people during this significant occasion. He expressed gratitude to every member of the ever-growing TMC family on its Foundation Day. What began as a movement for change has transformed into a formidable democratic force. He honored the grassroots workers, acknowledging them as the architects of this journey. Their discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering faith fuel the party's political strength. Banerjee asserted that as long as they remain loyal to 'Maa-Mati-Manush', no power, regardless of how arrogant or oppressive, can defeat Bengal's collective resolve. He reaffirmed their commitment to stand with the people, protect their democratic voices, and ensure that no one in Bengal faces harassment or humiliation from anti-Bengali feudal powers.
TMC's Historical Context and Current Political Climate
The TMC was founded on January 1, 1998, when Banerjee separated from Congress due to ideological and political differences. From its inception as a regional party, TMC evolved into a national party by 2016. It ended the 34-year rule of the Left Front in West Bengal in 2011 and has remained in power, winning three consecutive assembly elections since then. This year's Foundation Day is particularly significant as political activities intensify in the state, gearing up for the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections scheduled for March-April 2026. The TMC is currently in a confrontation with the Election Commission of India regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
